چکیده

ence of left ventricular wall motion during the isovolumic relaxation period. Obstructive coronary artery disease was found in 59 and normal coronary arteries in 41 patients. Systolic contraction abnormalities were present in 52 of the 100 patients. Outward left ventricular wall motion during the isovolumic relaxation period was observed in 83 patients. This outward motion, termed segmental early relaxation phenomenon (SERP), was localized in 81. In 29 patients SERP was accompanied by a simultaneous inward motion that was apparent in the 30 degree RAO position in another part of the left ventricle. In ventricles with systolic contraction abnormalities SERP tended to occur in the normally contracting areas (25 of 39 patients). When the abnormal systolic contraction was extensive, SERP occurred infrequently (4 of 16 patients). In this group of patients with chest pain, whether or not they had coronary artery disease, outward left ventricular wall motion occurred commonly during isovolumic relaxation. It appears to be a normal variation of left ventricular relaxation.

Unusual left ventricular wall motion and a loud added sound during the isovolumic relaxation period in a patient with hypertensive heart disease.

A 69 year old woman with hypertensive heart disease had a loud added sound which coincided with a sudden interruption of the early diastolic motion of the left ventricular posterior wall, as visualised by M mode echocardiography, and came just before early diastolic transmitral flow, as measured by a pulsed Doppler echocardiogram. Early diastolic motion velocity from the base to the middle of t...

Association of asynchronous protodiastolic segmental wall motion with impaired left ventricular relaxation.

To determine if asynchronous segmental relaxation is associated with altered left ventricular (LV) diastolic function, we examined systolic and diastolic wall motion and function indexes in 16 patients without and 16 with asynchronous relaxation (groups 1 and 2, respectively). The segment with asynchronous relaxation was observed most frequently in the free anterior LV wall and was not consiste...

U waves in ventricular hypertrophy : possible demonstration of mechano - electrical feedback MAURICE

The relation between ventricular function and electrocardiographic evidence of hypertrophy (by voltage criteria, "strain", and U wave inversion) was examined by means ofM mode echocardiography and apex cardiography in 73 patients with diseases associated with left ventricular hypertrophy and 10 normal volunteers. In patients with disease, left ventricular cavity dimension and fractional shorten...

Regional variation in the timing and extent of left ventricular wall motion in normal subjects.

Right anterior oblique cineangiograms from 19 subjects without evidence of heart disease were analysed to assess regional non-uniformity in the time of onset of systolic inward motion, amplitude of systolic motion, time of peak inward motion, and wall motion during the isovolumic relaxation period. The left ventricular silhouette was digitised frame by frame for a full cardiac cycle. These four...
